Because we believe in contributing to our local community, in 2004 SAI Programs built and opened a school in our local town in Sonoma County, through which we can share our education abroad networks with others. The school is VIVA; a culinary, wine and cultural center offering short (one to three day) courses to the public. At VIVA, SAI brings professors and experts from our programs abroad and chosen from exceptional local Sonoma chefs, to teach what they know best. For example: cooking classes with chef/professors from Apicius in Florence, Italian Language courses, and a variety of Italian related subjects from Food Photography to the History of the Mafia. VIVA is supported and underwritten by SAI because we enjoy offering this to our community.
Community events, art exhibitions and Slow Food meetings all take place at VIVA and the location is a venue for annual Film Festivals held in Sonoma County.
