Community
Because we believe in contributing to our local community, in 2004 Study Abroad Italy built and opened a school in our local town in Sonoma County, through which we can share our Italy with others. The school is VIVA; an Italian culinary, wine and cultural center offering short (one to three day) courses to the public. At VIVA, SAI brings professors and experts from our programs abroad and and chosen from exceptional local Sonoma chefs, to teach what they know best. For example: cooking classes with chef/professors from Apicius in Florence, Italian Language courses, and a variety of Italian related subjects from Food Photography to the History of the Mafia. VIVA is supported and underwritten by Study Abroad Italy because we enjoy offering this to our community.
Community events, art exhibitions and Slow Food meetings all take place at VIVA and the location is a venue for annual Film Festivals held in Sonoma County.
If you find yourself planning a visit to California Wine Country, drop by VIVA to say hello, or join us for one of our exciting (and delicious) course offerings.
