Program Prerequisites: Students must provide a detailed CV demonstrating a Bachelor’s degree in culinary arts and/or hospitality with evaluation reports or transcripts or at least 3 years of professional experience. Successful performance on both a written exam and a practical test at the start of the term demonstrating basic knowledge of the following: This test will be administered in Florence during the orientation period.

DEADLINES
STEP 1 Monday June 15, 2012 Submit application with a non-refundable$90 Application Fee. Your Transcript/CV may be sent separately, in which case acceptance will be conditional until it is received. There is no GPA requirement
STEP 2 *
Within 2 weeks of email acceptance Within 2 weeks of email acceptance the following payments are due in order to secure your enrollment:
$600 security deposit
$1,500 confirmation deposit (non-refundable)
$2,000 optional housing single room supplement fee

* NOTE: Students applying after the application deadline will be asked to make enrollment confirmation payments within 5 business days upon receipt of acceptance email.

** NOTE: Students confirmed after this date will receive an email from the SAI business office regarding further program payments now due. Either 50% or 100% of Program Cost will be due within 5 business days, based on your acceptance date.

WHAT’S INCLUDED

Program Cost includes: Tuition, Admissions Services, Student Visa Guidance, Airport Pick-up on Arrival Day, Welcome and Farewell Reception, Cell Phone with free incoming calls and text, Program Coordinator in Florence providing personal assistance throughout the term, 24 Hour Emergency Support, Full Coverage Health Insurance, Comprehensive On-Site Orientation, Academic Credit for up to 15 Credit Hours and Registration Fees for Re-Entry Conferences.

Program Cost does not include: Airfare, meals, books, lab fees, personal expenses, return transportation to airport at the end of the program, Permit to Stay fees.

FINANCIAL AID STUDENTS

Students using financial aid are required to pay Application Fee, Confirmation Deposits and Optional Housing Cost. Written verification of financial aid award or loan approval must be sent to our office in order to delay the balance of program fee and before your application is considered complete. If your financial award is not sufficient to cover Program Fee, the difference must be paid by the final payment date. Financial aid students who do not submit all required documents by the following date will automatically be withdrawn from the program: July 1, 2012.

NOTE: Financial Aid students remain responsible for all cancellation penalties that apply, even if program fees have not yet been paid. Failure to pay cancellation obligations will result in referral to a Collection Agency.

OPTIONAL/ADDITIONAL COSTS

  • $150 Late Payment Fee
  • $8,000 Housing (double room); $10,000 (single room)
  • $250 Student Visa Processing Fee
  • $85 International FedEx charge for mailing of acceptance packets (this will be charged to students whose permanent address is outside of the US or Canada to insure their visa papers and acceptance packet arrive in a timely manner)

  • Lab Fee: 600 Euros paid upon arrival in Florence.
  • Text books (not included in the lab fee)
CANCELLATION FEES

Program Cancellation & Refunds

Check-in day is considered the start of the term.

The Confirmation Deposit is NOT REFUNDABLE. Further Program Fee liability is based on the date on which a formal cancellation request is received in writing (email or fax). If a cancellation notice is received:

Students who cancel less than 60 days before orientation are liable for the following charges:

  • 60 – 46 days prior to the start of a term: 10 % of the program cost
  • 45 – 31 days prior to the start of a term: 20% of the program cost
  • 30 – 8 days prior to the start of a term: 50% of the full Program cost
  • 7 days or less prior to the start of a term: 100% of the full Program cost

Tuition for the second semester is  NOT REFUNDABLE at any time according to Italian law – no exceptions can be made.  NOTE: this policy also applies to financial aid students. Unpaid obligations will be referred to Collections.

Housing ONLY Cancellation & Refunds Policy

Applications are registered for housing upon receipt of the security deposit. In the case of a student enrolled in an SAI program deciding to cancel their housing request and seek private housing, the following penalties will apply, based on the date of withdrawal:

  • 60 days or less before first move-in date: 100% of the housing cost
