Orientation
| Only students enrolled in an SAI FULL PROGRAM participate in the Study Abroad Italy portion of Orientation. However all students participate in the orientation provided by Apicius upon arrival. |
| During the first two or three days of the program (3 days Semester/ 2 days Summer), the Study Abroad Italy (SAI) on-site program coordinator organizes a series of meetings and events which are designed to provide students with a thorough orientation of the city and surrounding area, and a full explanation of the academic program, including an introduction to the faculty and staff. By the end of orientation, students will have a clear understanding of their new environment and feel confident moving about the city independently.
Study Abroad Italy recommends flying into Amerigo Vespucci Airport in Florence. Although there are no direct flights from the US into Florence, this is also the most convenient option for US students, requiring a transfer through another European city. Galileo Galilei Airport in Pisa is another option. Pisa’s airport is directly connected to Florenceās central train station by both train and bus. The trip takes 1 hour. Full Program students will be emailed a Student Arrival form which they must fill out and submit to SAI at least two weeks before departure. All SAI Full Program students arriving at the Florence airport during the official check-in dates will be met by an SAI representative who will coordinate shuttle transfer to the school for program check-in. After check-in, students and their baggage will be taken directly to their apartment. This service is at no cost to the student, covered by the Full Program cost. Day 1
