Interior and Spatial Design | CCAD

The BA Interior and Spatial Design will be the host course for the Semester Interior and Spatial Design Program. The BA course encourages students to engage critically with contemporary design through projects conducted in a studio environment that promote the conceptual and practical skills required of interior design and spatial design professionals.

Working with existing buildings and spaces, students explore different possibilities for habitation and use. The BA course engages critically with contemporary design and focuses on designing complex architectural spaces, discreet multi-media installations and sensory environments. Chelsea’s vibrant art college context is vital in providing opportunities to uncover overlapping concerns between the different disciplines being taught within the College.

A wide-ranging theory program encourages individual inquiry and debate and deepens the understanding of design issues, while professional practice is developed through participation in external competitions, live projects and a lively evening lecture program. Semester Study Abroad students will have the opportunity to become involved in these activities.

The Semester Study Abroad program explores spatial concerns from a less traditional paper-based point of view, using time-based digital media, creative exploration and directly constructed interventions.
