SAI is pleased to offer Master’s Programs at Domus Academy, in Milan and also a Master’s Program at Apicius International School of Hospitality in Florence.

Programs in Milan are 12 months long and UK accredited, and students may receive an internationally recognized Masters degree from the University of Wales (if applicable), in addition to a Masters Diploma from Domus Academy.

The program in Florence is offered as a full-time, one year program and is offered in cooperation with Apicius International School of Hospitality.

Master’s in Accessories Design

In collaboration with Ars Sutoria, the most prestigious institute of technical specialization in leather goods. This MA focuses on everything concerning people and clothing: leather goods and accessories often become creations as important as the dress that they complement.  The first phase of the MA, shared with the MA in Fashion Design, aims at providing the fundamental concepts necessary to investigate Fashion and Accessory field, through workshops and basic lectures in Psychology, Anthropology, Socio-Economic Forecasting, Marketing, Management and Contemporary Art. The second phase consists of a specific path in the accessories work through thematic workshops. The third phase is dedicated to the Master Thesis; students will work individually on a specific theme in collaboration with a company or designer under the supervision of a project leader. Participants will explore the accessories field with an innovative approach, in order to acquire an all-around and advanced knowledge of the industry. This MA is a laboratory in which students can express their creative sensibility in line with productive and managerial subjects.

Master’s in Business Design

This program is a creative format of the MA in Business Administration which proposes new, intense relations between the world of business and the world of design. In collaboration with SDA Bocconi School of Management. This program intends to create a new managerial class for design driven companies composed of individuals able to combine creativity, managerial skills and entrepreneurial spirit. Its goal is also to provide tools to tackle complex social conditions, globalization and the spread of new economic production systems. Teaching activity throughout the program is divided into three parts: November – June is articulated in lectures and workshops focused on three main topics: business management and innovation languages, creativity languages, the Made in Italy model; students are encouraged to work in teams on briefs given by DA’s partner companies; July – September consists of research that each student carries out in a company or in a design studio, broadening one of the themes faced during the first phase of the program; October – December concludes with a final master thesis, that students will develop under the guidance of a mentor and tutor. MA Business Design participants will develop skills and competences that will enable them to achieve different high-level managerial positions in sectors like fashion, design, luxury goods, food, leisure, tourism, consumer goods, media, consultants and ICT.

Master’s in Car Design

This program is geared towards graduates from specialized schools or young designers and professionals working in the design field. The Master in Car Design provides a new generation of car designers, capable to integrate tradition with changing, diverse market requirements and new technological development. This MA follows the approach of “learning by designing”, where participants learn by a direct, active involvement in several design experiences. The program is divided into 4 sections: induction (lectures, testimonials, and field visits, Workshops, Focus and Final Master Thesis. The program aims at strengthening participants’ design competences together with the development of their professional profile. At the end of the program, students will be ready to work as car designers, within the framework of a company or a design studio, and they will be able to effectively interact with the marketing, production and finance functions.

Master’s in Design Driven Communication

In collaboration with Libera Università di Lingue e Comunicazione (IULM). This Master course has the objective of forming new professionals able to integrate the instrument of communication within the process of enhancing the value of brand and product. The aim of the Master course is to train students to develop innovation and creativity, quality and effectiveness using design methodologies in the areas of communication, marketing and advertising. The Master program extends its working activities from Fashion Business (accessories, cosmetics, personal belongings) and Design Business (furniture, products and services like tourism and place branding) to the world of hyper brand companies.

Master’s in Fashion Design

The MA in Fashion Design proposes an integrated approach between cultural, design, production, marketing and communication aspects through a continuous dialogue with professionals in the field. The MA has the purpose of providing each participant with cultural, research and project background at 360 degrees. It is not only a didactic professional experience, but also a laboratory in which students can express their creative sensibility in line with productive and managerial subjects. The program is geared towards graduates from fashion Design, Architecture and Art Schools, who wish to develop their professional skills, and to people with a suitable background and professional experience in the fashion field. Students will find career opportunities as Fashion Designers, Art Directors, Trend Searchers and Product Managers. Students will have the skills to start a freelance career as a Style Consultants, Stylist for press, TV or fairs, Event Manager, Cool Hunter and Fashion Editor.

Master’s in Fashion Management

The Domus Academy Master in Fashion Management aims at shaping and developing the next generation of managers suited to the specific requirements of Fashion. Fashion companies are constantly looking for people capable of matching creativity with management skills. Because participants will perform tasks in different areas of the Fashion environment, students will be prepared to occupy positions as Product Managers, Merchandising Managers, Brand Managers, Store Managers, Retail Managers, and Fashion Buyers. Since the beginning, when Gianfranco Ferré was the Director of the Fashion Design Master program, one of DA’s strengths has been its cooperation with the most noted Fashion companies in Italy and abroad (see below). The program will consist of lectures in relevant Fashion and Management topics, case studies of Italian and International Fashion brands and an extensive individual work under the supervision of leading professionals. Through workshops, students will have the opportunity to work with Fashion companies to produce a project. The Master Thesis will be the final assignment and will consist of developing an individual project based on one of the most relevant issues dealt with during the course.

Master’s in Interaction Design

The MA in Interaction Design integrates ICT potential, design sensitivity and business mind-set to generate an interactive design product. This Masters aims at providing students and designers with practical and conceptual skills to carry out a “problem setting: activity, using their imagination to develop concepts, scenarios and strategies based on the integration of ICT in everyday’s life, blending design and creative sensitivity with more technical and market-oriented competence. The program trains graduates for leading roles in the world of interaction design. Participants will develop competences to get to different design and strategic positions such as Interaction Designer, Creative Director, User Experience Designer, Creative Director, Strategist, and Design Director. The academic year starts with a basic course dedicated to Interaction Design Culture. Through lectures and discussions, this intensive module contributes to the understanding of the potentialities and definition of the role of interactivity, at the crossing point between design culture, market strategies and technological innovation. The first semester includes a combination of skills and vision-based activities, designed to provide students with the interaction design fundamentals to generate, assess and prototype their ideas effectively. The second semester is dedicated to the final Master Thesis. Students, supervised by a renowned practitioner in the field, will work on the development of an individual project focused on a specific interaction design.

Master’s in Interior and Living Design

This MA will enable students to upgrade their design competences combining new needs of sustainability with functional aspects of contemporary lifestyle. This program is a training program of excellence, able to reflect on the changes and transformations of the built space, promoting a permanent research activity for design models and solutions that are appropriate and innovative. During the first phase, the program will be structured around theoretical lectures focusing on the areas of Strategy and Research with practical sessions consisting of thematic Workshops and Technical visits. This allows students to get acquired with the use of design tools for industrial and handicraft production and for functional and stylistic transformations as perceived by the consumer. Students will learn the fundamentals of lighting design, theatrical design, and virtual space design, as well as the aesthetics and theory of contemporary art. They will also attend seminars on design strategy and design management and marketing, and will learn how to effectively build a professional portfolio. The theory will then materialize as students apply what they learn to their thesis projects, overseen by experts in the field of interior design.

Master’s in Product Design

This program offers a path of experience, research and design, which combines the theoretical heritage of prestigious and stimulating teaching with the contribution of close and practical cooperation with companies and professionals that support students during their training. The program is divided into two semesters. The first semester consists of an intense workshop activity focused on outstanding design topics. During workshops, students will go deep into the areas of research, languages and strategy through theoretical lectures and project activities. The second semester is dedicated to the final Master Thesis. Students will work individually under the supervision of a project leader. DA’s historical flagship course has given birth to more than a generation of designers and will train professionals able to create and design products for the different fields of the industrial system. Participants will develop skills and competences to find opportunities in several contexts, from outstanding design companies to architecture and design studios.

Master’s in Service Design

Service design is a relatively recent interdisciplinary practice that emphasizes the centrality of users and the user experience into service management and innovation, promoted by a growing community of academic and professional practitioners, in Europe and abroad.

The Master program integrates service management and design with a strong focus on the customer experience and service innovation in Business to Consumer (B2C) related fields such as health and care, tourism and culture, and commercial services, so as to revolutionize services as we now know them. Due to the utmost importance of the service sector in our contemporary world economy, high customer expectations for a quality level of service standard is rapidly expanding. Thus, service companies will be looking for greater differentiation and competitiveness through innovative ideas and outstanding experiences, hence, requiring more qualified professional profiles. Domus Academy’s distinctive approach is to consider the aesthetic of the experience along the parameters of quality and efficacy for a good service performance: such a dimension depends on sensitive and emotional aspects, linked to human nature, behavior, and cultural backgrounds.

Master’s in Urban Vision and Architectural Design

This MA is geared towards young professionals as well as young graduates in Urban Architecture, Economics, Human Sciences and Social and Communication disciplines interested in developing a personal taste and approach and improving their architectural sensitivity according to urban transformation needs.
Restoring vision in which planning, architecture and design skills, social and anthropological analysis, marketing and communication tools contribute to the creation of a new professional identity, able to redefine functions and aesthetics of architecture and urban space. This program will be structured around five modules: Tools and Languages, Strategies and Vision, Architectural Link, Urban and Landscape Design, Architectural Design – consisting of lectures and workshops. At the end of the modules, participants will be involved in a learning and research experience through meetings with outstanding professionals of the field and technical visits to architectural sites. New geographies and territorial assets, a multitude of actors and environmental issues guides designers to go beyond buildings and produce new territorial visions. The urban transformation processes and the way economic, human, social and environmental resources are used, call for more complex competences and cooperation between various factors. This MA’s objective is to enable professionals to reflect on public space metamorphosis within contemporary urban context to re-design spaces, manage complex architectural and territorial issues using innovative analysis tools and design methods with particular focus on planning, landscape design, environmental sustainability and renewable energy.

Master’s of Education in Organizational Management
with a Concentration in International Tourism

The Master of Education in Organizational Management is a 39 credit program designed for professionals from a variety of organizations who are facing reform and change in the ways they currently operate. The program of study addresses the methods and techniques of enhancing the performance of employees within organizations, the operational processes, and planning for the future. The courses that comprise the specialization in International Tourism cover topics related to the skills and knowledge necessary for careers in the international hospitality industry, hotel operations, and food and beverage management. The program is offered as a full-time, one year program and is offered in cooperation with Apicius International School of Hospitality that is located in Florence, Italy. All courses will be taught in English. Classes will be held in the morning and afternoons over a traditional semester format.

Endicott College and Apicius International School of Hospitality have established an affiliation for the purpose of delivering at the campus of Apicius in Florence, Italy a Master of Education Program in Organizational Management with a concentration in International Tourism. The program will be offered under the auspices of Endicott College’s School of Graduate and Professional Studies.

Endicott College shall award the degree at the completion of 39 credits over a full calendar year.
