PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Torino Institute’s semester or summer internship program offers the opportunity to work in the following areas:

  • Museum Studies (fall, spring and summer)

Student interns will work in a Torino-based museum under the supervision of a museum director, assistant director, or museum staff member.  The three credit-hour internship requires a minimum of 150 hours per semester or approximately 10 hours per week.  The student will be directed and advised by the museum studies director at Torino Institute who will coordinate the internship with the museum personnel.  Full time enrollment in the museum studies program is required in addition to the internship hours.

  • Archaeology (spring and summer)
Internship is a month-long archaeological dig on the island of Stromboli under the supervision of Italian archaeologists.  The intern will work directly with Italian technicians and students.  The archaeology internships are only available for the spring and summer I sessions. The spring internship is in May after completion of the spring academic program.  The summer internship is offered in June after completion of an intense two-week instruction in archaeology methods prior to the dig.  There are ten spots available for both spring and summer.
  • Education/Teaching English (fall and spring )

Internship for teaching English is available for both the spring and fall semesters where the student intern will work in a Torino-based public school (Istituto Manzoni). The three credit-hour internship requires a minimum of 150 hours per semester or approximately 10 hours per week.  The student will be directed and advised by the internship director at Torino Institute and work under the supervision of a local teacher.  The internship director will coordinate the work with the student intern, the supervising teacher, and the principal of Istituto Manzoni.

Credits per internship: 3 (150 hours)
