The Master of Arts in Fashion and Textile Design is an intensive two years project-based degree. In producing and documenting works related directly or indirectly to Fashion, students are expected to produce and document a body of works including: fashion design, textiles, visual and written storytelling, photography, graphics, costumes, millinery. The program’s main courses, taught by leading fashion professionals, rely heavily on lab experience.

Program Introduction
During this two-year program, students explore innovative fashion tools and manufacturing processes and the myriad creative possibilities they afford. They develop the capacity to translate ideas into their own fashion language, and hone their ability to analyze and critique fashion design at a high level.
The program’s main courses rely heavily on project work. By the end of the program studies, students have a portfolio of projects focusing on fashion and textile design. Student work will also integrate elements of accessories and costume design, visual and written storytelling, photography, graphic design, and hat making.
Experienced fashion professionals will mentor students in building a personalized skill set as part of crafting their identities as a fashion designers.
Learning Outcomes and Career Opportunities
The program prepares innovative fashion designers, ready to work within fashion companies, professional studios, research or style centers, or capable of designing and promoting a personal collection or brand. It opens the doors to high-level positions gravitating around the fashion sector, within event and show agency, and within editorial offices where they could be stylists, art directors, cool hunters. Students and graduates from the Fashion Design Department have been collaborating with, among others: Costume National, Gianni Versace, Guccio Gucci, Jil Sander Italia, Kenzo, Missoni, Ratti Group, Tirelli Costumi, Trussardi, Valentino Fashion Group.

Degree & Certification
Students enrolled in the Master of Art of Fashion & Textile Design that complete the full program, will receive an Master of Arts Degree awarded by NABA Nuova Accademia di Belle Arti, recognized by the Italian Ministry of Education.
Declaration of Value
In order to receive the Academic Master Degree at the completion of the program students holding a non-Italian Bachelor Degree are required to have their degree validated prior to starting the program. In order to do so, students must contact the Italian Embassy or Consulate in the country where the degree was issued in order to ask for the so called “perfezionamento documenti”, consisting of:

Pre-departure and Re-entry services
Housing is not included in SAI Select Services Programs. However, your SAI Admissions Counselor will be happy to provide you with information and recommendations for local housing agencies, as well as school-provided apartments. Students who do not have prior housing arrangements should begin speaking with their Admissions Counselor as soon as possible.
Passports
Passports should be valid for 3 months after planned departure from Italy.
Student Visas
In accordance with Italian law students studying in Italy for 91 days or more are required to obtain a student visa. Those with Italian/EU citizenship are exempted. Non-US nationals should consult their local Consulate for information on student visa requirements.
Students must appear in person at the Italian Consulate to present their student visa application. Our Student Visa Office is available to assist students in getting ready for the appointment; SAI provides student visa consulting for all our students at no cost.
