Ready to Study Abroad?
Our admissions counselors can’t wait to help you!
Short programs at Italiaidea offer opportunities for SAI students to study Italian language throughout the academic year. Courses are open to all levels of students, including those seeking continuing education courses. Each short program offers an intensive 4 week Italian language course. The course can be taken for 4 credits, or non-credit for a reduced cost. Italiaidea’s immersion-style teaching allows students to apply their language skills in various settings outside of the classroom. SAI offers four short programs in the Fall, each with different start dates.

Pre-departure and Re-entry services
SAI offers all students the Viva Experience: frequent cultural activities, at no extra cost, for participants to get to know their community, city and country. Following is a sample of the activities included in this program. Please note that actual activities may differ.
Welcome Meal
SAI welcomes students to Rome with a traditional Roman meal. Students meet one another and get to know their new city.
Discover Monti
Once the slum of ancient Rome, Monti is now one of the city’s coolest and most charming neighborhoods home to vintage stores, art studios, chic cafés, and quaint squares. Students will visit Domus Aurea (“Golden House”), an impressive palace built by Emperor Nero, and go on a virtual reality tour. They will then explore the neighborhood’s shops and conclude with lunch at a famous local trattoria.
A Taste of Rome Food Tour
Students get to know their new home by exploring the Trastevere neighborhood and tasting some of Rome’s most celebrated culinary traditions.
Farewell Aperitivo
Students celebrate the end of a successful term abroad and say their goodbyes over a delicious Italian meal.
Standard Housing: Family homestay
Family homestays place students with a local family, which could be an older married couple or a family with children. Homestays are an excellent opportunity to deepen language skills and cultural understanding. Homestay families are typically based within walking distance to the school. Students are housed in a private room in the family home, and the cost includes breakfast and dinner 7 days per week.
Passports
Passports should be valid for 3 months after planned departure from Italy.
Student Visas
In accordance with Italian law U.S. students studying in Italy for 91 days or more are required to obtain a student visa. Therefore all U.S. students do not require a student visa for this program. Non-US nationals should consult their local Consulate for information on student visa requirements.
