Founded in 1921, the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (UCSC), or "Cattolica", is the largest private university in Europe. Cattolica’s Rome campus was founded in 1960 and is home to the School of Medicine and Surgery, which is affiliated with the acclaimed Policlinico Gemelli University Hospital. This gives health science students access to a world-class hospital. Students benefit from access to internationally acclaimed experts in their field, including an impressive 43 Faculty members listed among the top Italian Scientists. The University Hospital is ranked first for the number of national non-profit clinical trials and third for non-profit drug experimentations performed. It is also a top Italian oncology hospital for the number of patients treated.
