SAI’s Spring Semester virtual internship program hosted by Sant’Anna Institute invites students and young professionals to gain valuable professional skills through a virtual experience with a company based in Sorrento, Italy. Participants will complete a total of 120 project-based internship hours, supported by regular advising meetings, professional development workshops, and a final evaluation. Available fields include business, communications, education, political science, Italian studies, interior design, & more!

Eligibility Requirements

Age: 18+

Academic Year: Sophomore or above (at least 2 completed semesters at application)

Cumulative GPA:* 2.5 (on a 4.0 scale)

Resume: The resume should include a comprehensive description of your academic and professional experience to date. Feel free to include information about any special skills you possess.

Professional Cover Letter: The professional cover letter should include a self-introduction, as well as information about your professional area of interest. The letter should outline why you have chosen this particular program and the goals you would like to accomplish during the program.

Photo ID Scan: Please provide a clear scan of a government issued photo ID (passport, driver’s license, etc.), ensuring your photo and birthday are clearly visible.

The SAI virtual internship program is unpaid and does not award academic credit. The virtual internship program is designed for college students and young professionals who wish to compress a significant amount of professional experience into a relatively short period of time, and who are experienced self-starters.

Placement Process
Once applicants submit a complete application, including supplemental items and the application fee, they will be contacted by the Internship Coordinator for an interview to discuss their experience and professional goals. After completing the interview, applicants will be emailed with their virtual internship placement option(s).

Internship Structure
The internship program is 120 hours total, however weekly working hours will vary. The internship is project-based and participants are supported by a supervisor from the host company as well as Sant’Anna Institute’s internship coordinator. Participants attend weekly professional development group workshops and meet periodically with their company supervisor and the internship coordinator. At the end of the program, participants will receive a final evaluation from their company supervisor and the internship coordinator.

Upon successful completed of the virtual internship program, participants will receive a certificate from Sant’Anna Institute and the possibility to use their internship supervisor as a future professional reference.

All students who complete a virtual program with SAI are eligible for a Virtual Programs Alumni Discount to be applied to any future on-site programs: $350 for semester/quarter programs, and $150 for summer and short programs.

Note: certain SAI-affiliated US universities require specific payment arrangements. These may require that some fees are paid by the student directly to SAI, and other fees are paid to SAI by the affiliated university on behalf of the student. If you attend an SAI-affiliated university please contact your study abroad office or speak with your SAI Admissions Counselor for details.
