Dominique - Summer 15 - Florence

My name is Dominique Norman. I am currently a junior at Washington State University, double majoring in Apparel Design and Merchandising with a focus in Comparative Ethnic Studies.

I chose to study abroad originally because of my love of travel. Learning about different histories, cultures, and people is something I’m very passionate about. Studying abroad this summer will also allow me to earn credit towards my double major to allow for me to pursue a minor in Comparative Ethnic Studies. I am a spoken word artist, activist, and consider myself to be a student leader on my campus. I am involved in numerous clubs and organizations, hold leadership positions in almost all of them, and also work as a new student mentor for Multicultural Student Services.

I am most looking forward to the new experiences I will encounter while studying abroad and experiencing a culture and place different from my own.

I am nervous about language barriers, but am confident that it will not hold me back from having the experience of a lifetime!

Three goals I would like to accomplish while abroad are learning Italian, traveling to as many places as I can, and eating food that I cannot get in the United States. I cannot wait to study abroad!
