Academics & Certificates

Program Details

The intensive French language program at ICP is hosted by the Institut de Langue et de Culture Françaises (ILCF), which is the ICP department in charge of courses designed specifically for international students. While the ILCF is located on the same campus as ICP, students who choose this option attend courses with other visiting internationals, rather than with local degree-seeking students.

Course Registration

Students inform SAI of their French Language level and preferred elective courses, and SAI’s Admissions Counselor will complete course registration at ICP on the student’s behalf. Those choosing non-beginning level French Language will complete an online placement test prior to arrival, the results of which will be verified during the academic orientation period.

Volunteer Opportunities

SAI semester students have the opportunity to volunteer at Le Picoulet Community Center during their time in Paris. Interested students should talk to SAI Admissions during the enrollment process to find out what volunteer positions are available for a given term.

Optional Certificates

SAI Global Leadership Certificate (GLC)
The SAI Global Leadership Certificate (GLC) enhances a semester abroad through focused exploration of global issues, research, and engagement with local experts. Students develop critical thinking and leadership skills while gaining a deeper understanding of their host community. This credential highlights academic initiative and a global perspective.

The SAI International Service Certificate (ISC) offers students the opportunity to engage directly with their host community through volunteer service. Working with local organizations and supported by SAI staff, students build practical skills, cultural awareness, and meaningful connections. This certificate recognizes a strong commitment to service abroad.
