The only way up a Medieval town

I love learning new languages and new cultures. This opportunity that I have right now, studying abroad, is all that. I’m here to live and learn like the people here, gaining experiences that I can carry with me for the rest of my life. I’m not here just for Instagram photos or experience for my résumé, although it is a plus that I will take advantage of. Neither am I here to create a more just world, but I would say simply meeting people from different countries and learning from them creates a more diverse world. A diverse world leads to a more just place, as people from so many different backgrounds connect.

Me in a beautiful town called Orvieto

Antonio, a farmer I met while exploring the mountains of Formia.
Breaking that bubble of just hanging out with people who are just like you is hard to do, and some people go their whole lives without breaking it. I think it’s very important to go outside of your comfort zone and experience life the way different people from all around the world do. All that comes into factor to create a more just world — it’s a little piece, but nonetheless, an important one.

Being multicultural and understanding that people are different and live differently makes the world just a little bit more just. My personal experience here has been amazing so far. I love meeting people and speaking Italian — my world gets so much bigger every day I am here.
So, I am proud to say I have had an amazing global learning experience, and no matter who you are, you can too.

Between the alley ways of Rome you can always get a glimpse of something beautiful
