The American University of Florence (AUF) is a young, vibrant institution offering liberal arts pre-college, undergraduate and graduate programs that take a contemporary approach to education. With small classes taught by highly qualified international faculty, the school offers a range of degree and study programs taught in English. SAI offers programs at AUF that offer a wide range of course options, including communication, hospitality, business, and cutting-edge fashion and design, among many others.

As an urban school, AUF comprises several buildings in Florence’s city center that have been refurbished to create spaces for studios, classrooms, and labs. In the classroom, students have the opportunity to learn with working professionals, as many instructors are renowned in their fields. Outside of the classroom, students apply what they learn to their surroundings, with ample opportunities for community engagement and hands-on learning. Please note that study abroad semester, quarter, short and summer programs are offered by AUF’s study abroad division, Florence University of the Arts – The American University of Florence.

Student Life at AUF
Students in Florence have the opportunity to live in the heart of the Renaissance while experiencing the modern, thriving city of today. AUF hosts regular events, including afternoon lectures, film series, book launches, and conferences, all available to students and the community. Students are able to eat at AUF’s student-run restaurant and bakery, can get involved in student clubs, and can utilize the school’s gym, and other facilities.
