SAI Customized Internships are an excellent way to extend learning beyond the classroom, explore career options, build professional networks and expand resumes. SAI Internships are not limited to undergraduate students studying abroad. There are opportunities for recent college graduates and those exploring a new career. Internships offered In Italy allow interns the chance to develop or improve their Italian language skills and gain real world experience in professional environments. STUDY ABROAD ITALY CUSTOMIZED INTERNSHIPS

Description: SAI offers full-time (15 credit) and part-time (3 credit) customized internships that include Global Professional Development Seminars. The Internship Advisor works closely with you to identify the right company and position to reflect your professional goals. SAI customized internships are available part time as a 3-credit (or noncredit) addition to your academic program, or as a full-time internship with no academic courses. Please note, all internships are unpaid.

Description: Students will participate in weekly on-site activities, as well as complete related coursework during the semester and a final reflective paper about the internship experience. These unpaid internships allow students to observe and participate in the day-to-day activities of several local businesses, organizations and structures. Internships can be taken for or without academic credit.

Description: SAI offers Professional Internships through our partner institution, Italiaidea in Rome.   These semester internships integrate language and culture courses with professional practice internships. Students have the option to participate in a variety of cultural activities such as visits to Rome neighborhoods, Italian cinemas, wine tastings and historical sites. Internships can be taken only for academic credits and are unpaid.


Please note: While SAI takes into account individual student requests during the internship placement process, it is not possible to guarantee a position with a specific firm or organization.  Assignments are made on a case-by-case basis, and students are encouraged to approach any internship project with an attitude of flexibility and an open mind.  In addition, students should be aware that internships are best suited for highly motivated individuals.
