Program Overview

NABA’s 4 week summer programs offer students a synthesis of NABA expertise in the fields of Design, Fashion, Visual & Digital Arts, and Communication under the guidance of, and in collaboration with, professionals in the field. Students are immersed in Italy’s thriving creative community through visits to museums, companies, production facilities, and design studios. SAI offers two 4-week summer sessions at NABA, each with different start dates and course options: Summer I and Summer II. In both 4 week sessions, students enroll in two back-to-back 2-week courses, each worth 3 US credits.

Academics

NABA summer courses run Monday – Friday between 10:00am and 4:00pm. Students participate in two back-to-back two week sessions, taking one course per session. Students complete their course registration during the SAI application process by selecting their primary course choice for section 1 (course held during the first two weeks of the program) and section 2 (course held during the last two weeks of the program) as well as required alternate courses for each two week section. Course schedules are confirmed 3 weeks prior to the program start.

Note: This program consists of back-to-back courses; students enrolling in this program must complete the full program length.

SAI student apartments offer a comfortable, community-focused living experience in fully equipped spaces. Apartments typically house 2 – 4 students and feature a mix of shared-occupancy and private bedrooms, along with kitchen, bathroom, and a common area. Each unit is move-in ready with essential furnishings, a washing machine, basic kitchen supplies, bed linens, towels, and wireless internet. Housing is arranged as female, male, and, in select locations, gender-inclusive. SAI’s on-site staff are available to promptly assist with any maintenance needs throughout the program.

SAI Viva Experience

Passports
Passports should be valid for at least 3 months after planned departure from Europe.

Student Visas
In accordance with Italian law, U.S. students studying in Italy for 90 days or less are not required to obtain a student visa. Therefore all U.S. students do not require a student visa for this program (nor can they apply for one). Non-US nationals should consult their local Consulate for information on student visa requirements.
