Studying Abroad in Florence

What was your favorite memory from your time abroad?

My favorite memory from studying abroad was being able to travel almost every weekend. It was so easy and cheap to get around, I traveled to 12 different countries within four months! The best part about it all was jumping into that country’s way of life for the weekend and really getting a feel for life somewhere else! Every country has such different lifestyles and history, it was so fascinating to see/do everything you’ve once read/heard about.

What was your favorite thing to do in your host city?

My absolute favorite thing about my host city was renting a bike and getting to know Florence through a different perspective. I found a local bike shop and got a really good deal on a four-month bike rental. I rode the bike to places I don’t think I would of ever discovered by foot. I spent so much time exploring local areas, coffee shops, parks.. I even biked all the way up to Fiesole!

What Did you Learn About Yourself?

I learned so much about myself while aboard. I pushed myself into trying new things and doing everything that I possibly could. I said yes to every opportunity and just went for it. I tried so many new foods, met people from all over the world, went on so many adventures, tried about every way of public transportation, and traveled to as many places as possible. There was no better way to learn than from my personal experiences! Time flies when your abroad, and you don’t want to miss any opportunity, so I just went for it! It was the best decision ever and it will definitely push me in life to try new things.
